Dear BSC Online Community members,

Performance measurement is critical to providing businesses with a way to see if they are going in the right direction to achieve improved performance. At Virginia Tech, we are conducting a survey study on how performance measurement systems are used - in particular, the "performance review process" activities, which are prescribed as a mean to extract value from performance information but thus far have received little research attention. Your experiences with the performance review process are very important to this study.

We seek participants who are familiar with their organization's performance measurement system (or, performance scorecard) and have participated at least twice in performance review meetings within the past 12 months. Participants will complete an online survey questionnaire. Whether your organization is large or small, manufacturing or service, in the private or public sector, you can participate in this important research study.

All participants may request a summary report of the study findings by filling out the request form at the end of the survey. We assure confidentiality to all participants of the study. Your email address or other personal information will never be associated with your survey responses and will not be shared with anyone outside the research project.

If you or a colleague would be interested in participating in this study, please follow the link below to reach the survey. Please enter "19084" for your access code to begin the survey. The survey should take approximately 25-30 minutes to complete. You may save your progress and continue at a later date and time if needed.

https://s-6dfho-293514.sgizmo.com/?acode=19084

The survey is available until June 30, 2010. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please feel free to contact us by any of the means listed below. We thank you in advance for your interest and participation in this study.

Sincerely,

Pimsinee Chearskul, Graduate Research Fellow
Dr. Eileen Van Aken, Associate Professor
Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering
Virginia Tech
250 Durham Hall (0118)
Blacksburg, VA 24061
Phone: 540/231-0483
Fax: 540/231-3322
Email: pimsinee@vt.edu or evanaken@vt.edu

The point system is really a useful tool in evaluating every strategic initiative but I need a little help in applying it in our City's scorecard.

I made a template of the matrix (see attached file) but I don't know if it'll do and what/how would the scoring/point system work.

Maybe some of you may help me out.
Hello

Here is 60 page white paper I wrote on scorecard implementation. It is an attempt to mix two of most adopted methods-Balanced Scorecard and CMM. I had few success in my scorecard implementation assignments with this approach. I would say the credit largely must go to authors of the above said models.

Essentially it is a twist ( Like Columbus's egg). It recasts the high level architecture of the mentioned methodologies. I hope this provides simpler perspective, especially to execute.

For sure it requires further research

You may read the paper here www.slideshare.net/shesh

Regards
Sheshagiri G Hegde
